چکیده

Soil health assessments associated with organic amendment applications have primarily focused attention on manure or composts. Yet, quantifying specific changes in soil biosolids land has yet to be determined. Our objectives were evaluate the various indicators, and utilizing Management Assessment Framework (SMAF), quantify indicator scores indices as affected by either increasing inorganic N fertilizer (0 up 112 kg ha−1) 11.2 dry Mg applied every other year over 22 years. Soils sampled 20 cm depth) following years of inputs a dryland wheat-fallow (Triticum aestivum L.) rotation, 11 indicators monitored under SMAF guidelines, scores, analyzed statistically. In general, application rates had little effect indices. Increasing increased C (SOC) potentially mineralizable (PMN). The showed upward trends for pH, SOC, PMN, microbial biomass (MBC) rates; discussing are important these combined provide Indeed, chemical biological indices, leading an improvement overall index. When comparing effect, significantly improved Results indicate that long-term semi-arid, wheat fallow rotations, similar those studied, improve aspects health. These findings suggest may play pivotal role agroecosystem sustainability.

Soil carbon sequestration resulting from long-term application of biosolids for land reclamation.

Investigations on the impact of application of biosolids for land reclamation on C sequestration in soil were conducted at Fulton County, Illinois, where 41 fields (3.6-66 ha) received biosolids at a cumulative loading rate from 455 to 1654 dry Mg ha(-1) for 8 to 23 yr in rotation from 1972 to 2004. The fields were cropped with corn, wheat, and sorghum and also with soybean and grass or fallowe...

Long-term effects of land application of class B biosolids on the soil microbial populations, pathogens, and activity.

This study evaluated the influence of 20 annual land applications of Class B biosolids on the soil microbial community. The potential benefits and hazards of land application were evaluated by analysis of surface soil samples collected following the 20th land application of biosolids. The study was initiated in 1986 at the University of Arizona Marana Agricultural Center, 21 miles north of Tucs...

Effects of long-term application of biosolids for mine land reclamation on groundwater chemistry: trace metals.

Data collected for 35 yr from a 1790-ha strip mine reclamation site in Fulton County, Illinois, where biosolids were applied from 1972 to 2004, were used to evaluate the impacts of long-term biosolids application on metal concentrations in groundwater. Groundwater samples were collected between 1972 and 2006 from wells installed in seven strip-mined fields treated with biosolids at cumulative l...

Occurrence and fate of perfluorochemicals in soil following the land application of municipal biosolids.

The recent implementation of soil and drinking water screening guidance values for two perfluorochemicals (PFCs), perfluorooctanoate (PFOA) and perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS) by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), reflects the growing concerns regarding the presence of these persistent and bioaccumulative chemicals in the natural environment. Previous work has established the pote...
